Split/save wmv & avi with no re-encoding?

I downloaded trial version of Power Director. My main goal is to split out unwanted parts and then combine into one video.

With a WMV video after splitting it wants to "produce" as AVI. There is some loss of quality. To have it "produce" as WMV there is a huge loss of quality.

There are single function editing programs that will clip and then you can save clips without re-encoding. There is no loss of quality.

Is it possible to save clips of AVI and WMV video without re-encoding in Power Director?

That is basically what the SVRT function does, but all clips must be the same format, and the format must be supported by SVRT. Otherwise, I think the answer is no. Unfortunately, when you switch from one format to another there is often some loss of quality. The trick is the find the way to have as little loss as possible.

I have never liked the WMV format personally, but when you encode using it, just make sure you are not selecting a video resolution that is bigger then the source file. That will make it look worse.
