Inconsistent background color in PowerDVD

I wanted to test out PowerDVD and the quality of lots of my mkv movies are much better than with e.g. MPC-HC and VLC.

But I have one minor but really annoying issue.
For some of my movies the background color is black which is great (and same as the control bar).
But for some of my UHD movies it's more gray-blackish which is really annoying while watching the videos.

I've tried looking at all possible settings but cannot find anything for this.

Please, can someone help me to figure this out?

Are your UHD movies HDR video, and your monitor is not HDR model?
It is normal if you try to play a HDR video on a SDR monitor, the overall color presentation will be fake and needs some additional and unrealistic tampering.

powerdvd won't help you tamper the inaccurate/downscaled HDR color. That's probably why the background color "inconsistent".
