Hi,
Is there a way to copy and paste repeated copies of very short portions of a clip? I'm editing a video of a lecture, and there's one point, that lasts about 20 seconds, where the video image and the audio are confusingly different (don't ask). I'd like to replace the confusing visual by copying and pasting in something from elsewhere in the project. Is that possible? And if it is, how would I do this WITHOUT changing the audio?

Hi Warren,

Unfortunately PD7 doesn't have an option for separating audio track from master video track (as Corel X2 Pro for example has).
I propose to use Audacity software (free) for separating audio track for whole project, next I would make a cut and mute audio on whole video master track, and finally add recorded (from Audacity) audio track to the project.

Hi Warren,

There are two ways to separate the audio in PD7.
1. Video in Media Library (Nature.mpg)
1-1 Right Click on video > select from the drop down the "Extract Audio"
A wav file is produced - and can be accessed to the Export location you've set in Preferences.

2. Place the video file Nature.mpg in the Video track
2-1 Right click on the video
2-2 select Split Audio
The audio file is now separated from the video and is placed in the Voice over track.

Audio can be copied and pasted in the time-lines.

Using Audacity gives you more control of the wave and location of the cut and join/length of the audio file. It's a free audio editor.

It is possible to extract audio in PD7 actually !
I didn't see it because I've always do everything in the TIMELINE not LIBRARY.
"Split audio" in the timeline has a different name than "extract audio", so because of my bad English I,ve never try it.
