AVCHD file creating - what is the difference ?

We've got three ways to create AVCHD file in Power Director:

1. directly from project (produce -> create a file -> MP4-AVC and so on
2. from batch file processing (file -> batch produce and so on
3. from project (create disc -> AVCHD disc and m2ts file from STREAM folder)

Questions:

why lenght of files let say 1 and 2 is different than 3 ? (assume default AVCHD profile for files) ?
Why multiAVCHD software has no problem to make AVCHD structure ONLY from file 3 ?

Because only the last one is in stream format I guess.

Thank you for your answer, but I still have a doubts.
All these files have m2ts extensions, it means that they are "stream", aren't they ?
