Playing Blu-Ray audio without monitor?

Hey all! Just built my first PC, and while I was at it I slapped a Blu-Ray drive in there, and after fiddling with other blu-ray software decided to drop the dough for PowerDVD 18 Ultra. So far, so great.

However, I have a strange problem, one that probably doesn't fit the normal use case:

I'm a big ambient music nerd, so I picked up two of Robert Rich's "Sleep Concerts" on a Blu-Ray disc. There's a menu to select which 8 hour "album" you want... and then a black screen with audio for that album. Here's the page for it for those interested: https://robertrich.bandcamp.com/album/perpetual

So I thought I could just put it on, and turn off my monitor and have it playing in my room... however, shortly after turning the monitor off, the music stopped due to an error where PowerDVD couldn't establish HDCP because the montior connecteded to my graphics card... turned off.

This makes sense, this is in fact the way that should go, and the DRM is working, and I'm not at all asking "how do I disable DRM?", but on the same hand: is there a way to have the audio keep playing without my monitor? I know the Intel chip I have should have a basic graphics hardware built in, is there a way to shift the "workload" for a black screen to that?

Just like what you said, if your monitor is off, then the HDCP authentication will drop accordingly.

Do you have an amplifier as an intermediate to bridge your speakers and monitor?

How about connecting your PC to an amplifier via HDMI, and let the monitor connected behind the amplifier?
Then, keep your amplifier active for audio playback, and turn your monitor off.

I'm not sure if the setup can avoid the HDCP authentication drop because the amplifier is a verified HDCP device at least, and it can divide audio and video output.

You may try it if you already have an amplifier.

Hi PurpleMoustache,

in order to be able to listen to your own blu-rays you have bought with your own money whilst saving energy you have to disable the copy protection of the disc with a software tool like AnyDVD HD ...
