Hyperthreading on or off?

Lots of chatter on the web about it, but....

Has anyone done actual testing to see if PD16 actually takes proper advantage of hyper threading or is it potentially faster/same with HT turned off?

The CPU in question in an i7-7700HQ, 4 physical cores @ 2.8Gz or 8 HT threads, embedded Intel HD Graphics 830.

Thanks

From my experience on several platforms I notice the following:
1) No noticeable user interface differences
2) No noticeable playback differences
3) Minor differences when CPU encoding is used. Somewhat format sensitive, a few format specifics below.

H.264 1920x1080/60i 24Mbps m2ts, 15% improvement
H.264 4K 30p 50Mbps mp4, 10% improvement
H.265 2K 30p 30Mbps mp4, 13% improvement

So, overall nothing significant. Just remember most CPU load utilities will register partial CPU loading when HT is on as load percentage is based on full logical processor count.
