Just getting started with PD 16 and editing videos.
I am trying to trim a video, but I have no scissors icon?

Have you placed the video on the timeline first?

You can only trim when you have placed it there and clicked on it (highlighted).

Are you trying to trim a still?? There are no scissors when stills are highlighted. The scissors turn into a crop symbol if that is the case.

I know you said trim a video in your message, but dafter things have happened.

This worked for me- I just needed to click inside the timeline- now everything is working correctly.
