Hello, my PD 16 is running ver slowly while editing.
Every click I make takes a second or 2 to process
and when I hit play on a clip, the video freezes for a
a second as the audio plays ahead of it then the video
accelerates to catchup.
This is really increasing my edit time badly.
I have a gaming class PC windows 10 with 32 gb of ram.
How can I stop this slow down?

P.S. Hardwear acceleration is off

Have you tried using Shadow Files. They should help a lot, and you can also reduce the preview quality Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

I have same problem, also have a new gaming computer.
I dont have Shadow on but my file is very small a this point.
Is this typical of PD 16?

No, thats not typical for PD16. It depends on your hardware and software specifications. A DxDiag.txt would help. It's hard to find what the problem is.

  1. switch on using shadow files.

  2. switch on hardware decoding

  3. switch on using OpenCL

Restart windows, restart PD. Still the same?
Do you have some video/streaming related gaming software running in Background? (game video grabber, fraps, teamspeak, whatsoever). Try to start a "clean" windows (no new install, but stop background programs) and try again.

You need not to be techy..
Preferences - hardware acceleration.
See attached image.

P.S. that has nothing to do with hardware acceleration of encoding. These setting jast make hardware decoding.

You really need to try shadow files if you are working with HD material, and especially so if editing 4K. Even high spec machines find it difficult at times. If you do try them, make sure all the clips in the Media Room have the green flag before you start editing.

If you find that HA doesn't help, try without. Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,
