MP4 creates larger file sizes than MP2

When choosing output format in produce w/PD7, for MP4 it says it has similar quality but takes less space. However, producing the same project with the same settings produces larger .mt2s (MP4) files than .mp2 files. I used 720x480, q=6, bitrate 8MB/s for both.

What they are basically saying is you can use a Lower bitrate MP4 to compete with a higher bitrate MP2.

In your case, you told the software to create both files with the same average bitrate and it went ahead and did what you told it to.

It also depends on the content of the footage, color, contrast, amount of motion, etc.
