Simple question:

is it possible to do this in PD7 ?
I cannot.
When I try to add another clip on the beginning of the project, all music tracks don't move as I want.
I remember this option was present in Ulead software. "My job makes my life possible but my job is not my life"

See if this option is ticked.
Dir chair > Edit > Preferences > Editing tab > Link all tracks when moving.....

Jeff, nice post! I never knew this. I've wondered the same thing myself, but never looked into it. Q9300 2.5 GHz

Of course it is ticked.
There is no problem if I try to add another video clip AT THE BEGINNING or at the END of the whole project (music tracks are moving and making free zone under new clip).
The problem is arising, when I try do the same in the middle

I'm not sure I understand your question then, your first question stated:
When I try to add another clip on the beginning of the project, all music tracks don't move

When the feature I indicated is ticked, they WILL move. Now this response states that there is no problem when adding another video clip at the beginning or end, only the middle.

Say you have 10 pics and trimmed a song to exactly match those 10 pics. When you add a new pic in the middle, what behaviour would you like with the song in the music track?
a) a gap in the music track under the new pic? If so, split the music track at the new pic insertion time, have the check for link all tracks, add your new pic in the middle, and you will have a gap under the new pic in the music track
b) no gap in the music track under the new pic and no change in music length? If so, just uncheck the link all tracks, add your new pic in the middle, and the length of music will remain unchanged. The last pic will not have any music then.
c) no gap in music track under new pic and an extension of the music length if it was originally trimmed? If so, just check the link all tracks, add your new pic in the middle, and the length of music will be extended if possible.

I think that covers all the options but maybe I missed something that you are trying to do.

Jeff

Hi JL,

I interpreted the question...
Grzegorz:
- When I try to add another clip on the beginning of the project, all music tracks don't move as I want.
- Of course it is ticked. The problem is arising, when I try do the same in the middle.
...exactly as you did JL.

And your a) through c) explanation is spot on. I'll be interested to see if there possibly is a d).

Thank you JL for your help and explaination.
Of course everything works great, so seems to me that I temporary lost my brain
