PowerDirector 7 - Can't capture DV in Analog Passthrough Mode

I have a Canon ZR85 firewire camcorder. I can capture from DV tapes fine over the firewire.

What I need to do is capture from the Canon ZR85 via PD7 when the Canon ZR85 is converting analog source (VCR) through its digital converter and outputing over firewire.

I know this works fine on my Mac with iMovie software.

Why can't PD7 handle?

How can I capture other than buying another unnecessary device/card?

Ken,

Many threads on this, try a search. Bottom line, use WMM for the capture.

Don't feel bad, just use WMM.
You will find, when all is said and done, good video/movie editing takes more than one software. So many different computers, drivers, sound and music editors, the list grows longer the more serious you are.

Hey Barry, so in theory - if one is serious , one must have a long list.

How long's yours then?

Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I did try searching, but didn't come up with anything. Must not have had the right keywords.

One problem, Windows 7 doesn't include WMM.

Windows 7 does come with the Live version, but I can't seem to get that to work.

Any ideas on an alternative or where I can get WMM stand alone?
