Strange Problem - PowerDirector 7 claims waaaay too much space is needed for DVD folder.

I posted this earlier, and strangely, it disappeared. Hopefully Cyberlink's forums aren't having the same problems as their software, but it certainly seems that way.

So...again...I'm using the trial version. I will HAVE to purchase the full version due to the watermark if I can get the program to work properly, but I'm not going to purchase it if I can't get the project to compile into a DVD folder. I am trying to create a DVD folder of a completed project, but the software claims that I need 658,000,000 MB of space in order to do so. That cannot be correct--the project is 2:18 long, so there's no way I need a half petabyte of space to store a compiled DVD folder. Can someone tell me how to fix this? I assume that if I were to use the full version for burning direct to disc, it would "require" the same amount of space. There must be a work-around.

Nathan,

Most likely cause is you have a audio bit, title, PIP, or something way to the right in the time line. Might be really small duration so hard to see.

1) Go to Movie Mode
2) hit the "End" key on the keyboard. This will go to the end of the project.
3) delete the item

Keep doing 1-3 until you have isolated the real end of your project.

Thanks for your reply. I had thought that may be the real issue because I had several PiP clips "disappear" while I was editing the project...I thought that maybe they had been inadvertently drug far to the right of the time line. However, when I hit "End," it went to 2:18. There is nothing past 2:18 from what I can see.

I tried deleting clips and shortened the project down to 12 minutes. PowerDirector still claims it needs 658,000,000 to compile the DVD folder.

Any other ideas?

Nathan

Are you sure you are in movie mode. Hit "Page Down" and then "End" By 2:18, do you mean 2hrs and 18 minutes? What disc format are you trying to create for your DVD folder?

Yes I'm in movie mode. Even on the storyboard, there is nothing beyond 2 hours, 18 minutes. I've tried LP mode (which changes the required space to 458,000,000 MB).

Right now, I've created a new project file and I am copying and pasting the clips from the original to the new one. I'm all the way down to the titles portion in my copying and pasting, and each time I go to compile the folder it says it will only need just over 8 GB. It seems there is just some kind of bug in my original file.

Nathan -

That sounds like the right approach to me... unless, of course, you copy and paste "the bug" and it crops up in your new project.

Cheers -

Just out of curiosity, I went to the original project file and checked to see if the time line slider ran past the intended time and it did not. Oh well, copying and pasting everything, while a pain, worked.

Now, after having finally produced the DVD folder, the menu looks terrible. The text and background image are very grainy when viewing on my computer. Any ideas for that problem?
