Hi,

Normally PDR will open with a basic choice screen, unless at some time the check box enabling timeline mode entry has been checked, when it will default to starting in timeline mode.

If this is the case and you wish to have the default choice splash screen on startup then

Preferences>Confirmation>
uncheck Always enter timeline mode at startup box

should get you back.
