With a recorded track playing I'm trying to record a live track while playing along with the recorded track. I'm getting background noise. I'm using an alesis multimix 4 as the interface. It's like some kinda humming transformr noise. Any ideas?

I am not an expert with audio, but have a look at that:

Maybe it takes your input mixer as well as a microphone. This tool works really astonishing for me.
And with a good sequence of VST plugins, you can get your humming away.
