Before upgrading, where were you saving your project files?
and
Were you using Save or Save as and choosing your own location?

Did you take any backups of your project files?

Did you ever use the Pack Project function?

Have you checked what is in the Autosave folder as set under Preferences>Project?

I was saving to a custom location.
I don't think I ever used the feature you mentioned.
Autosave folder only has 4 of the missing 467 missing projects.
Was using Save.
It keeps deleting my projects and will only save 18 of them at a time before deleting the oldest ones.
This is intollarable. I've lost every project I've ever made and contenue to lose them.
Please HELP!

I can't save projects anymore with out losing others.
What is causing them to be deleted?

In 10 years or so I can't recall an instance similar to the one you describe and it is obviously not an issue affecting others, as it has not been reported on the forum.

So, it seems to be something specific to your setup and operating environment.

As I understand it, everything was functioning as expected until you upgraded to PDR16, so what version were you using before?

Can you supply the exact version of PDR16 you have? Use the Help>About or click on the PowerDirector logo top right of screen.

Can you supply a screen shot of your project folder?

Could you also detail exactly what steps you take to load, edit and save a project?

Are you saying that you now have 18 projects in your folder and everytime you save another, an older one is deleted?

We need to understand exactly what is happening when you work with PD, particularly to see if it is directly relating to the PDR16 upgrade or if something else is involved.

I had 20 saved projects this morning, but as soon as I exported the video I was working on (whose project was saved to the same location) It deleted 2 of the oldest ones making the count 18 again.
Before upgraging I had PD15.

Yes. It seems to happen at random times through (as far as I can tell).

I start PD16, import video files, slipt them in the timeline, put them together as I need to, save the project by clicking the save icon and giving the project a file name saving it as a PowerDirector Script, finally I export to seperate destination folder.

Think that I see the problem. Go to Preferences/Projects and copy the whole directory path and post it here. It may be what you are showing in your screenshot.

I was just looking at my projects folder and almost everthing had been deleted!
I upgraded to 16 on 1/2/2018 and made videos and saved after doing so consistantly every day, but now there is NOTHING older than 2/16/2018.
Everything before that was deleted!
I can't trust the program to save my projects.
That's not good.
What can I do to recover my projects and prevent this in the future?
I run Windows 10 with 32 gb of RAM

I see you save your projects in the same folder.
I use a folder for each project, this contains besides the project file, all the specific material for the work, videos, images, music.
For the case that your project disappeared, maybe you have an autosave project, check this hidden folder, but can be changed as I did, see the image. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

The folder shown in your image is for storing the AutoSave Project. [backup of your Main Project]
This function shows off, must activate for your safety.
These files remain for only 30 days, after they are automatically deleted.
This can be changed in Preferences, General, Auto delete temporary files every.


The folder where you are going to save if project should be indicated when doing File, Save Project As ...
This folder is shown in the settings. Preferences, Files, Import Foldes

The two-directory path cannot be the same or else the AutoSave will delete the oldest projects in the same folder as you have found.

You changed the default autosave path. To keep this from happening again you need to change the autosave directory path back to the original.

If you don’t remember the original default path for the autosave path then you can create a new one and browse to it as you did in Cyberlink 003.jpg

I have done as you instructed.
Even with autosave off, it deleted projects.
I will comment agian once I can confirm weather or not this solves the issue.
