Producing causes video clips to be still images

I have edited a video together using titles from the title room, transitions from the transition room, and my own recorded footage in MP4 format. My goal is to export my edited video to MP4, AVI, or any file format that Youtube accepts. I've tried multiple ways of producing the video (changing file format, file extensions, etc), but the result is always broken. My final product after producing is different from what I see in the video preview in the edit tab. In my exported post-production mp4, the titles show up, the transitions work, the audio works, but when it cuts to a video clip, it is just shows a still frame instead of the moving video.

I am using PowerDirector version 16.0.2313.0
Here is a link to my DxDiag https://pastebin.com/8mNfNpy8
Here is how my edit screen looks: https://gyazo.com/4e61b6ffc3f0b173b5b8defb5b6b3875
Here is how my production screen looks: https://gyazo.com/6e411c6b2ffc9adb2f575a124bb8cf6e
Here is a Gif showing part of the final MP4: https://gyazo.com/c87436680abd6e9ca3a80be1fdfb6947
In that final link, you can see that as soon as it cuts to the video, it is just a still frame. This frame is on the screen until the next text shows up.

If I need to provide any additional information please let me know. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance!

You could try disabling Hardware Acceleration in Preferences. Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

You can also uncheck the Fast video rendering technology checkbox in the produce screenshot if unchecking hardware acceleration did not work.

Hi Erich123 -

That's a weird issue. Your clips - "StreamVodxxx.mp4" - play back correctly in PDR, but come out as stills in the produced file???

What's the source of the clips? screen captures? Could you upload one of those original clips for testing here? Maybe we can replicate the problem.

Your DxDiag indicates you're not using the most recent driver for your GTX970. I doubt that has anything to do with the problem, but it'd be worth updating.

Cheers - Tony

I tried disabling Hardware Acceleration, and I unchecked Fast Video Rendering Technology, the result still was the same.

Yes, that is correct. The clips are from Open Broadcast Software using the Game Capture feature. They come out as mp4s and everything plays back correctly in the PDR edit screen.

I tried to attatch an original clip, but it didn't seem to be working so I just uploaded it to google drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sCseNYiBQn76o_V7Q0ts8ZJpMQPvZ-vz/view?usp=sharing

I'll update my driver anyway just to be sure.

Thanks, Tony.

Another update, I tried producing just a single clip, shortened from the original game capture, but this time without any editing or transitions or anything. The product was just a black screen... it did however have the correct audio, just like before. I've also tried more file formats and quality options, this time with the updated graphics card, still the same result.

Thanks for the file. I tested it and got the same effect. It stopped even in PD16. What mediainfo told me: The frame rate seems to be not constant. So I tried to convert the file from mp4 to mp4 with the frame rate of 29.97 fps with ffmpeg:

ffmpeg -i "StreamVoD (27).mp4" -r 29.97 "streamVoD(27).mp4"

With the speed of ~1,5 times the frame rate of the original, the file was transcoded.
Ffmpeg found some timecode errors in the footage. But the duration of the resulting file is exactly the same and visually they seem to be exactly the same. The resulting file is smaller, than the original. And, thats the most important thing: it works. So: Check this out!
Alaaf!

Hatti

Edit: I checked them almost frame by frame: No, I was wrong, there are differences in the video. It's weird, the timeline look different, but when I change the opacity of the converted video to 50% and put it right above the original, the visual content seem to be the same...

Thanks Hatti! This seems to have worked when I tested it with this one clip! I'll try to convert all the videos to see if it works consistently throughout but it seems like this is the answer I needed!

Good thinking Hatti -

Erich, I'd be looking at the settings you're using in OBS!

Your StreamVoD (27).mp4 clip wouldn't even play back correctly in PDR16. The video would freeze on one frame while the audio kept going.

When I produced it in PDR16, the produced file played back fine. It must have somehow corrected whatever was wrong (???).

I opened up OBS and did a few captures using different settings... but they all played back perfectly in media players & PDR.

So - the issue (as Hatti says) is the source material, rather than what PDR is doing.

Something that will fix it in OBS is to use File > Remux Recordings. I did that with your clip and there were no issues with PDR playback.

Cheers - Tony
