Power Director in DVD Suite? Is it stripped down?

I am confused from the seemingly lack of critical and conflicting information from Cyberlink. I was referred to purchase PowerDirector for video editing, but I am having second thoughts because it seems that the entire line of software from Cyberlink is just messed up, or so much missing information, I should just look at other companies.

I need a DVD recording software also, in addition to a video editor.

I see that the DVD Suite INCLUDES PowerDirector 7. BUT the DVD Suit is cheaper! And the list of features for the PowerDirector 7 portion listed in the DVD Suite comparison, has less features than the stand alone PowerDirector 7. There is no indication that the software included with the DVD Suite are stripped down. Is that missing, or just wrong information copied over in the DVD Suite feature list?

DVD Feature List - with Powerdirector listed first - shows 72 video effects and 70 Transition effects.

http://www.cyberlink.com/products/cyberlink-dvd-suite/compare_en_US.html

PowerDirector 7 Feature list shows 72 video effects and 142 transition effects.

http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector/compare_en_US.html

What else might be different? Or - is it just a mistake because the number of effects and transitions are same from previous years?

Also lists more slide show templates for the stand alone Power Director.

So what is the story with this? How does one get all the effects is purchasing the DVD Suite?

Also, searching through Flickr is disable in the delux version of the DVD Suite, but not in the deluxe stand alone version of Powerdirector. So - it seems that the stand alone has more features. But there is no indication in the DVD Suite that the Powerdirector in it is a stripped down version.

Gidday Bill -
The conclusion you've come to is quite correct. The version of PD in DVD Suite is a modified (stripped down) version... I believe those comparison tables are correct.

Is it the Ultra verion you're looking at - or Centra? PD7 Ultra (the standalone one) can burn to blueray discs, as can DVD Suite Ultra. PD7 Deluxe can't and neither can DVD Suite Centra. That may or my not be an important difference for you.

Re: your other issue with the pop up telling you to "upgrade" to an earlier version... a similar thing happened to me... then - quite mysteriously, it went away. Beats me why!

Cheers -

Tony
