I have taken some pictures from a 4K recorded video and to my surprise they were HD 1920x1080 resolution. Since the video was 3840x2160 resolution I ask whether there is a mean to get pictures of this resolution. I went to configuration options but I couldn't find any option to do this. Does someone know if it is possible for Power Director 16 and if yes how to do it?

If you want a snapshot to be the same resolution as the original you need to capture it while it is in the media library. Capturing on the timeline will result in the standard 1920x1080. So highlight the clip in the media library, find the shot you want, then use the camera icon as you would normally.

I hope this helps

Hi Pepsiman

Are you using PD16? I have no such option to Use original video size (see picture). Also no option to "Save Image". I also dont have to disable shadow files

Pons48 – Try this: highlight where you want with the scrubber. Right mouse click. Choose Edit Video/Image /Freeze Frame. Look at the properties of the created snapshot. I don’t have a 4k video to test at the moment.

Hi pons48 -

Just chiming in to confirm that, in PDR16 (&15), the only ways to get a full UHD/4K resolution snapshot are to:

  1. Take the snapshot from the Media Library (as Robert suggested)

  2. Use the Freeze Frame feature (as Tomas suggested)

  3. Take the snapshot in VLC player (or similar)

This issue has plagued users since PDR15 and has been discussed repeatedly:
