When I go to the Smart Patch I can encirlce the object I wish to remove but it will not move the object. Once it is circled that is as far as it will let me go. Is anyone else having a similar problem?

Hello Lordsknight,

Welcome to the PhD forum laughing

There are two similare & related tools in PhD - Smart Patch & Content Aware Removal. With both tools, you initially select the area you want either replaced or removed.

Using Smart Patch, you then drag the selected space to another part of the photo whic will replace the original.

Using Content Aware Removal, just click Apply and PhD will attempt to replace the selected space with backgound colour/texture.

It may be that you'd prefer to use the latter. If not, you need to:

  1. select the are to be replaced/patched

  2. click Next

  3. drag the selected area to another part of the photo

  4. adjust scale

  5. click Apply

OK. I tried it and it still sin't working. The Content Aware removal doesn't work either. I am going to try deleting the program and redownloading it.

Hello again,

I'm sorry you're still having such difficulty with these features. A full refund is available, but only within 30 days of purchase.

Could you please have a look at this screen capture & let us know at what points PhD doesn't respond as shown in this demonstration?

I had a similar problem with the gradient tool in the layers tab. It would draw a gradient line, but that was all. It wouldn't actually apply the gradient. Clicking "Edit -> Preferences" and then clicking the Reset button under "Layer Editing" (where it says "Reset all layer editing settings") fixed the problem for me. I realize this isn't specifically a layer related problem you are having, but it might be worth a shot since its similar to the problem I had in that the tool just isn't doing anything except drawing a border around the area where the effect is supposed to be applied.

Hope it helps
