Overlays That Were in PD 14 Not Coming Thru in PD 16

Someone please help, last night I upgraded from PowerDirector 14 to PowerDirector 16, and now when I open any of my edited video files and the new update, the format has been changed. Basically what it is doing is not preserving the masking of frames, so the overlays that were in PD 14 are not coming thru in PD 16. So all the shots where I had a smaller image on top of a fulls screen image are now now correct. Can anyone help please?
