Portrait image side filler

On Movavi there was a feature to infill the sides to full HD when you used a portrait image (still or video) - does PD16 have an equivalent? Looked but can't see the wood for the trees!

Addition: did a search and this question was asked sometime in 2015 and one quite good answer (sorry I forgot who) suggested stretching the image, blurring it and placing it behind the portrait version - a little bit involved as opposed to movavi which singleclick applied it to either portrait video or stills.

Any better/neater method out there?

Hi Alan -

There's no instant side filler in PDR.

The simplest thing is to add either a duplicate or similar shot (with heavy blur/darkening/lightening applied) in track 1, so your photo overlays it. See attached screenshot.

Cheers - Tony

Thanks Tony - we colided with much the same solution, not perhaps as simple as Movavi - but we can do a very passable equivalent. Its mostly photos I come across that need this treatment.

Would be nice of there were an external program that could apply this to a portrait input.

Thanks for your input.

Alan.
