Constant Crashing PowerDirector 7

Hi guys,

Any insight that could be provided would be much appreciated.

I have been using PD7 for about six months to add watermarks to clips and other very basic editing functions.

For the first three months, the program performed great with minimal crashes. Over the past three months, the program has gotten progressively worse.

I would think it has something to do with my computer but I have also uninstalled it from one of my PCs and installed it on another and had the exact same experience.

My PCs are regularly maintained (defrag, etc etc). No messenger service enabled, nor do I run anti-virus programs (though I do online scans regularly so I know it's not a virus or trojan affecting my system).

I am extremely frustrated ....

Is there a thread here that provides step-by-step to figuring out what's going on? Incidentally, I just downloaded the latest build and cannot extend a PiP object from the start of a clip to the end without it crashing.

(Incidentally, I am running a fast Core 2 Duo with 4 gigs memory).

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

Thank you for the link.

I do regularly defrag but there are other tips in the link as well that I will try. (Also, I will try one of the suggested defragment tool -- perhaps the one I use, though a brand name, is not getting it done).

I'll post back my results after trying all of the tips.
