No audio after PowerDVD 9 update patch installed

Greetings

After using the PowerDVD 9 Ultra for quite some time.
I installed the recent update patch and now I have no SPDIF audio when using the stand alone player.
It will play in WMC but it delaults to close captioning with no allowance for deselecting this option.
I've tried deinstalling and reinstalling PowerDVD 9 Ultra but the problem continues.
Some blu-rays will play but not regular dvds.

System: Windows Ultimate

Any suggestions?
