Hi, to my surprise, the word lighten did not get a hit in search on this forum. For photos see free plugins, but for video have not seen a post on it. Attaching a still of the situation which must be common, a speech in slightly darken room so projector works better.

dark face

Have never needed to lighten a face before in video, any siggestions on easy way without ruining the rest of the screen?

Well found under Fix/Enhance in PD13 right at top "Lighting adjustment" and it worked except when produced it reduced the quality a great deal, to those big blocks you see on over compressed video. It looked that way in preview but also did same thing on output. Figure other people have done it many tiomes and know best way to lighten a face in a speech?

Also found this from 2012. It seems to reduce quality. Have others noticed that adjusting brighness and contrast tends to degrade the video?

<div class="post_content" style="margin: 5px 0px 40px; padding: 5px 5px 25px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; word-wrap: break-word;">in regards to Brian B#71133

Hi Brian B#71133,
Open PD
Place your video into the track
Select Fix/Enhance
Select Color Adjustment
Select Contrast and then others.
Example:
Slide Contrast to the left to 60
Slide Sharpness to the right about 25
Tweak the other slide controls for the best results on your video.
