Preview playback with effects super slow

Hi All,

I have a pretty beefy laptop (Alienware, quad core, 16 gigs ram, nVidia video, etc) I use Cyberlink PowerDirector 15 on...works great but some effects render the playback, well, unplayable.

For instance - if I speed up a clip 12 or 16 times, (18 min clip into 1.5 minutes) the playback doesn't even work - audio track is fine, but video stutters terribly. I've reduced the preview quality to normal and low, which doesn't seem to help.

Is there anything that can be done?

It's a tough case, I suggest you to use Render Preview:

Range select that part on the timeline then you will see the button.

Thanks! I'm using PD15, but can't seem to find the yellow arrows as shown here:

How do I bring those up to mark the selection?

If you go ahead and render your video and then play it back properly, how is it then?

The timeline slider ( the gray triangle thing that points down ) has two yellow elements, one to its left, one to its right.

They look like a ramp...

Move your mouse-pointer above the right yellow ramp until the mouse-pointer changes to the Left-And-Right Arrow.

Press and hold the mouse-button (the left one) and move the mouse to the right.

That should create the area to render the preview for.

It's fine after rendering the whole thing - so I'm guessing just rendering a section will work for me.

Ahhhh....thank you! I feel kind of silly for missing that - but yes, now I see the light! ;

Thanks again!
