Duotone is an effect I have used in other editors and I wanted to add it to a current project. However, there is no duotone effect. I looked through the others to see if it had a different name but none looked like a match. I'm sure guys out there have used this effect in PowerDirector. What am I missing?

Thanks.

Hi A_J_123 -

As far as I know, there's no "Duotone" effect built into PDR. There's one called "Half Tone", which creates a spotty image with two colours.

If you have ColorDirector, you can easily generate the effect using Split Toning. Here's one I just made as a preset. That can be downloaded & installed in PDR. You'll find it under Fix/Enhance > Color Presets.

Duotone effects are also available in Pixelan's Film Touch 2 Pro, which you can purchase as a separate plug-in for PDR.

Sorry my suggestions can only offer solutions outside PDR.

Cheers - Tony

There may be ColorDirector Presets depending on the version of PD15: Fix/Enhance /ColorDirector /80s Fab or Artic Blue might work.

Hi Tony,

I do have ColourDirector, have downloaded your template and will have a look at it tomorrow (it's late now). Will feed back. I'll also go to the wishlist post and add this as it's a pretty basic effect with no need to hide it away in fix/enhance.

Thanks for the guidance.

Hi,

This is not what I was trying to do but looks really useful. Thanks for pointing it out.

Hi Alisdair -

If you've had a chance to play with Split Toning in CDR, you'll have found how easy it is to generate a variety of "Duotone" effects.

Once the preset is applied, clips can be further modified in PDR's Fix/Enhance.

Here are a few other Split Toning presets on DZ.

Yellow/Red - 2 tone Blue - 2 tone Red - 2 tone Green

Cheers - Tony
