When I produce a video, how can I stop it from adding it into the project?

Probably been asked before, but didn't find an answer doing a search.

When I produce a video, how can I stop PD from adding it to the project? It's just annoying. I always have to erase it...

It is not added to the project until you save the Project file after producing the video.

It is just in the Media Library until you save the project, If you exit PD and answer NO, to the save request, the Produced video will not be in the library when you reopen the project.

Just be sure to save the project file just before you produce. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

I agree with the O.P. I don't understand why PD automatically imports a produced video into the Media Library. If I wanted it in the Library, I would do it myself.

This question comes up from time to time and it actually surprises me that users DON'T want the file (icon) imported into the library.
As soon as it imports it is automatically hilighted in the library, right-click and remove (not delete). Save. It's the best method, I think.

smile - I'd be annoyed if this didn't happen. It's the way I work on projects is a little bit at a time.

There should be an option to turn it off. Personally I find it extremely annoying. Intel i7 4770k, 16GB, GTX1060 3GB, Two 240GB SSD, 4TB HD, Sony HDR-TD20V 3D camcorder, Sony SLT-A65VK for still images, Windows 10 Pro, 64bit

Me too. I finish editing a project and then produce. Ordinarily I would never notice that PD auto-imported the file. But if I want to rename the produced file or move it, I get a message that the file is in use.

Yep, another user here more annoyed than anything else.

Let me choose to import/lock the file, otherwise get out of my way.
