Hi guys trying to create a text title in PD15 for a drone video with a flythough effect so it looks like the drone flies right between the letters.

Ive played with motion tracker but cannot get it to do anything other than move the text to the bttom of the screen that then just disappears rather than give the illusion of flying through and past.

Any ideas would be a help

G'day jjay51 -

Do you want the text to appear to be flying? or do you want an image of a drone to flythrough the text? or are you trying to make the text track the motion of the drone?

I'm having trouble understanding exactly what you're after.

Cheers - Tony

Hi tony thanks for the reply, i'm looking for the text to appear static in the air or on the ground so when the drone flies forward it flies at and then through the text that stays in the same position but increases in size as it gets closer and finally drops iout of shot.

Imagine sitting in a plane and flying between say the famous Hollywood letters, its that effect i'm looking for.

As i say i've managed to get the text to stay but it doesnt increase in size and doesnt drop off shot it just moves in line with the tracked object and sits at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds before just disappearing

Without actually creating text in another program to use as images, I suggest poking about in New Blue Titler Pro, the plugin often included in PowerDirector. NBTP has animation ability that far exceeds the in-house titles. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.
Tape capture using 6 VCR, TBC-1000, Elite BVP4+, Sony D8 camcorder with TBC.

Good suggestions have already been given here. One way may be to create the text on a transparent background and then use Pan and zoom. Video attached. It can also be accomplished in other ways with titles, PiP, etc. It is up to each user's imagination.

Ok guys i think i have part of a solution, i can use 3d title then the motion/effect of horizontal zoom, will need tweaking to match teh duration to tie in with the speed of flightpath though

Are any of these close to what you're after? My thinking was trying create the view of the text from the drone's point of view.

No effects were used - just keyframed position, scale & rotation.

Hi guys, i managed to get a similar kind of effect i wanted using the motion tracker, would have liked to have made the text 3d but there was no option for it, however here's thos weekends video that i made and used the effect for the first time in the intro -

Looks good. You'd probably get smoother motion by avoiding the motion tracker and setting motion keyframes in Title Designer, but it looks good anyway.

I agree - 3D text would be much better, but that would take a different kind of software methinks. The tricky part is getting a different perspective when you're "flying over". Before posting those title templates, I tried to do something with graphic files of 3D text but bombed out pretty badly. embarassed

Cheers - Tony
