PowerDVD 9 Ultra not starting.

Anyone else having the same issue? I installed PowerDVD 9, Activation screen popped up, worked fine, got the registration screen (filled in the fields), re-booted the laptop and now PowerDVD 9 won't even start. My audio control flashes on the screen for approx 2-3 seconds then disappears and the program refuses to start. Are there known program-compatibility issues I should be aware of? Tech Support has been of no use to me, there are no patches, have tried "repairing" the install however, only gives me the option to un-install. My AV was turned off at time of install. What a useless piece of software if it won't run.

I am running Vista 32-bit Ultimate (all updates installed and up-to-date).

Tried the Vista-checker...no use.

Well, I've already paid for the program, just looking for some support,..anything legitimate. So far, nothing. Works fine on my XP machine.....Vista has nothing but issue's, mind you, WinDVD by Corel does just a fabulous job. Maybe Cyberlink should take a hint or two from them on what makes software compatible with Vista...this is BS.

Have the same prob dude. (although using trial)

perhaps we can pinpoint incompatibility issues by comparing systems.

This might give us an idea I suppose. I do not think it's a hardware issue. I'm running a Dell XPS 1710.

It appears that the programs we are running the same are Firefox, Slysoft's virtual drive software and .NET Framework 3.5.

I'm going to rule out Firefox but, the rest has merit. (in my opinion). I'm going to un-install my virtual drives and see if that fixes anything.

oh. also, both my version's of xp is "Performance" editions, with loads of stuff removed from them, for example old drivers, win-games, helpfiles etc.
Thought perhaps it could be some vital component missing?

Just so we understand each other, it's Vista we are dealing with right?! PowerDVD IS running fine on my XP machine...it's my Vista 32-bit I am having issue's with...(I see you mentioning your XP machines with old drivers missing, etc...).

oh then i must have misunderstood.. im running on xp..
still, it just wont run for me either. i try to start the main exe file, then the computer thinks for a second then the app flashes, and shuts down. i've tried loads of versions (of pdvd9) and they all do the same

anyways. gl with vista then. i have no idea what to do with that.
