I am hoping someone can advise me on how to register my software. The online registration cannot connect to the Internet even though I am fully connected. Technical support has not been able to find a solution. I sent them my full purchase receipt and have not received a reply.
Is there a way to manually register this product? I purchased PowerDirector7 from HermannStreet.com.
Other than this registration issue, it works perfectly so far.
P.S. I have tried registering with my firewall off and it still cannot find the Internet.

Hi Kenneth,

I really don’t have an answer here, but...

- Is this your first Cyberlink product?

- Have you successfully registered other Cyberlink products or versions in the past?

- Have you “only” tried to register via the open PD7 program itself ?
(e.g. Director’s Chair > Help > Register Power Director)

And...
Have you tried to go directly to Cyberlinks home page (via your browser),
https://membership.cyberlink.com/prog/homepage/html/index-enu.html
and click on the “Members” tab (top / middle next to “shopping cart”)?
This will take you to the Member’s Zone with links and pages to registration. I would assume that if you can get on their homepage, you are connected, and could register.
But then again, there is that old saying about what happens when we assume, isn’t there?

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help, but perhaps if you provide answers for the questions above, someone can dial it in further for you.

Good luck

Hi Kenneth,

Which browser do you use ?

I've had problems with downloads and access to differing sites - including Cyberlink, depending on which browser I use. Consequently I now try with IE, Firefox, Safari and Chrome just to make sure.

Cheers

Thanks all, my problem seems to be solved with the help of technical support.
It strikes me that Cyberlink is a very good company to work with - great support.

Actually, my experience is that this forum is the best thing that Cyberlink has going for it! Every time I have asked a question, someone has offered a solution or a workaround. Being a Studio user, this is a big help, since all the programs have issues and being connected to others who can provide answers is key! Also, powerzone is very cool and something others dont offer.

Here is the latest information in my unsuccessful attempt to register PD7. After several exchanges of information with Cyberlink tech services, I am still unable to register the product. I did another search of the forum and could not find anyone else who has met with this problem.
I followed their instructions and uninstalled my original product
then installed the new build they allowed me to download (actually the same build I had previously installed) and still no luck.
So far, my copy of PD7 has performed perfectly except for this flaw. Activating the downloads worked perfectly each time.
I am running Windows XP media center edition service pack 2.
Each time I run the online registration program, it says that I am not connected to the Internet - even though I am.
When I attempt to run online registration, I have PD7 already started and PD7 has no problem connecting with Director Zone automatically.
I have tried every variation of security when running online registration including, turning off my firewall and all of my security programs - with no success.
I have given total and complete permission for online registration to access the Internet and my firewall shows no alert that it has blocked the program.
I have tried running registration in safe mode - no success.
I have set the security level of Internet Explorer to NONE
I have set the security level of Firefox to NONE - still no success.
Technical services cannot figure it out. They said I can continue using the program without registering as long as it seems to be working correctly.

My question is: Does anyone have any more ideas?
and do you think running PD7 without registering might inhibit my ability to update the program at some later time?
This little problem is driving me crazy.
Thanks for giving it a thought.

Kenneth,
1. You can use PD7 without registering - I haven't registered mine.
2. You can update with a patch without a problem.
3. Please provide accurate information on the firewall set up you do have on your system. What's the software?
4. Are you signed in as the Administrator or as a user? Sign in as the Administrator.
5. What level of Firewall has your modem connection been set at?
6. You need to go in and delete the pre-sets for the security set up you have for executable programs.
6-1. You need to allow PD to have access to your Modem connection as well as the connection to the internet.
7. Get a tech guy to assist you. We cant give you hands on or see, play and locate your issue this way.

Dafydd

Thanks for your reply.
It is reassuring to know that I can continue to run the program without the registration module connecting. I am hoping that I will be able to straighten out the problem sometime in the near future. I am sure the problem arises from some aspect of my security setup.
Your help is appreciated!
Kenneth
