Have a trial PD7. Production audio codec is ONLY Dolby Digital. Does the FULL version allow MP2 codec for audio out?
WhoWhatHow?

The answer seems to be yes. Bought the full version PD7 Produce to file, NTSC, DVD-HQ, MPEG and Dolby sound option. TV says they hear audio!
Thanks ALL

Are you sure that the DVD codec is part of PD7? Is it by chance a third party codec that appears if you have it on your system when you install PD7? I've never had it in PD5, PD6, or PD7. My screen shot only shows LPCM and Dolby, not like the pic from the 6th item down as you indicate.

Hi Jeff,

I've got the same menu option as Dafydd. I'm currently running PD on my old machine for 'technical' reasons so I can't say much more about 3rd party codecs - it does have a load of other software on it!!

EDIT:
I've also got PD6 on the laptop, I'll have a look later today.

Cheers
Adrian

All,

I guess my bad, it apppeas one needs to be in PAL format for it to show up.

The manual states "MPEG audio uses the MPEG-1 audio compression format. (This audio format may have compatibility issues in NTSC.)"

Compaitiblity issues? It's not an option for NTSC (at least for me) so it shouldn't have any compatibiltiy issues.

Hi All,

Yeah - once again the PAL NTSC bug strikes, once again Jeff is right.

Having gone through the menu options I can get a choice of MPEG and Dolby with a NTSC preference only with BDAV disc format and no others.

Since I don't use this I don't know what it means in practice.

Cheers

Hi,
To all those who wondered why they don't have or do have mpeg audio.

http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#3.6

[3.6.2] Audio details of DVD-Video

Discs containing 525/60 (NTSC) video must use PCM or Dolby Digital on at least one track. Discs containing 625/50 (PAL/SECAM) video must use PCM or MPEG audio or Dolby Digital on at least one track. Additional tracks may be in any format.

My thanks to R&D at CyberLink for finding this particular bit of info.
