Vista on a new Velocity Gaming system.

I have used PD in the past, and downloaded the new version for this computer.

I bring in AVI and MOD clips into the library, drag down to the editing time line and am able to preview these clips by pressing the clip button.

I can add in music as well.

I hit the MOVIE button to preview and I hear the sound from the AVI/MOD clips and hear the music (MP4). However the video does not show.

I can view the videos as individual clips in the screen on the right, but when selecting MOVIE it only plays the sound...

Suggestions ????

hmmm... Interestingly enough, I decided to test to make sure that it wasnt the files I was dropping in.

I dragged the default videos that (Fish Flowers etc...) that come with PD7 and sure enough... they dont show.. but I hear the canned music.

So to sumise, I can click on a video clip in the upper left box. Choose to play that clip, and it plays in the video box on the right.

I drag that clip down into the time line, and put the slider bar to the beggining (it starts there) and hit the clip button on the right, and it plays the sound.. but shows no video. I reset the slider again, hit the Movie button this time, and it only plays sound, no video.

Either I am making an incredibly noobie mistake here.. or I have an issue.

Please help.....

I think you may have a Media Player issue. PD uses WMP as the preview window. Maybe the latest WMP update or install may help. It may be as simple as that. Please post results to help others. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

11.0.6001.7000 is installed, which is newer than Windows ver 11 that is offered for download via the update site.

Perhaps Codecs ?

I have an ATI card and the Catalyst Control Center was the issue. Scroll down a few articles until you find the fix. Essentially WMP issues exist when Control Center is not set properly.

Hope this helps anyone else with the same issue.

When your Windows Media Player, Real Player, Divx or any other types of video player having trouble in their display.

For instant, when run .wmv or .avi in your WMP, you can hear the audio but NO video at all. The same goes to all others video player. Audio but NO Video.

Here is the workaround, probably you are using ATI graphic card with the Catalyst Control Center installed.

Basically, what you need to do is just to do switch from Custom to Home in Catalyst Contrl Center under Video > Video Preset.
