tag faces - automatic?

Am I doing something wrong? Trying to tag faces...and it is brutally time consuming. Doesn't PhotoDirector learn after you tag some faces and then auto apply tags to faces in the future? Everytime I import new pictures I seem to have to manually go through each again and tell PD who each face is. This doesnt' seem right to me, as google photos for example can identify faces easily after you've told it who is who.

Am I doing something wrong?
