PCM decoded by PowerDVD

Hello,

I use an Intel i5 with integrated graphics which supports high-definition audio over the Digital Output according to the Customer Support FAQ.

My screen is connected with HDMI.

Question: Is the audio output 2.0 or 5.1 over this connection when I select 'PCM decoded by PowerDVD' ?

I need to know as I might buy a decoder that can only decode Dolby signals not DTS.

Thanks for your time.

Best regards ... Jef

Hi JefDC,

"PCM decoded" represents PowerDVD will help you to decode Dolby/DTS audio during video playback. No extra Dolby/DTS decoder required out of PowerDVD. The output channel amounts of decoded audio depends on your video content encoded with how many channels natively. e.g. 5.1ch Dolby Digital audio will be output as 5.1ch decoded audio (PCM).

Note:

  1. To have actual 5.1ch/7.1ch audio playback experience, you are required to setup 5.1ch/7.1ch speaker environment in advance.

  2. The 7.1ch Dolby/DTS audio will be decoded as 5.1ch in PowerDVD 16 Pro version, and decoded as 7.1ch in PowerDVD 16 Ultra/Live version.

Greetings
Hicham
