Hi everyone,

I have a message "This project was created in a newer version of CyberLink PowerDirector and is not supported by the current version" and here's what I had done:

  • Downloaded Powerdirector 14 TRIAL

  • Created project - spent few weeks editing

  • Downloaded Powerdirector 15 TRIAL

  • Opened and saved project file

  • Purchased Powerdirector 14 and installed so that I can publish my finished works in 4K

  • Tried to open .pds file but cannot

Now I can't open it to finish my work. What can I do?

Yes, PD has never backward compatible as released, heck, often lucky if it's even 100% forward compatible.

Post your PD15 pds file, I'll give it a try. I can convert my own back to PD14, might work for you as long as you've used nothing "new" in PD15. Also post just a sample PD14 pds file, just drag something to the timeline in your working PD14 and save and then post so I have your PD14 pds reference.

It might take a couple days before I can look at it, but if important and not easy to recreated I'll give it a go.

Give this a try and let me know, just a fast hack, I may need to look a little deeper if it does not work for you. All your video/pic/mp3 clips are obviously black for me as I don't have those but I have not changed any reference to them so they should load fine for you as long as you have not moved them.

Seems to work just fine for me Jeff thank you so much. I'll go a bit deeper to spot any issues but on first glance it's working just fine!

That's good, I'd simply followup with a "Save Project As..." and give a new name so PD recreates a few items and I think you should be fine.
