Hi,

I wish to use Prodad Vitascene, and, as an effect or as a transition, it crashes PD15 when applied on a video clip (effect), or between two video clips (transition).

Has anybody used Vitascene?

Many thanks.

I've used it in PD14, but not PD15. Regards,

Yes, I just tried it and did not have an issue. Could you give us more information and the dxdiag.exe text file on your computer, please .

Hi Stevek, many thanks for your feedback.

I tried several tests. And I have found what happens. I work with 4K video clips, and I have checked the shadow files generation. With this option checked, vitascene crashes PD15.
BUT, if I uncheck this option, I can apply the vitascene effect without crash, and I can work with Vitascene. But again, after having applied the vitascene effect, I I check again the shadow file option, I have again too a crash with PD15.
There is an incompatibility between Vitascene and the shadow files option.
So, it's unpossible for me to use vitascene, because I need the shadow files....

Ok, I do not use shadow files so your problem didn't show up for me. I also didn't use 4K videos.

If you want ---post a short 4K video that you are working with? I will cut it in half and use Vitascene to see if I get the crash. I'll try it wioth and without shadow files.

Do you need to use the shadow files?

I guess I didn't do a good job of testing. I used the default transition. When I tried to change it, I got the attached message. No crash and that transition worked OK.

By the way, I could not figue out how to turn thew shadow files on my computer embarassed

Hi Stevek, many thanks for your test....

I think you have to click on "Start in read mode" to open Vitascene and choose which effect or transition you prefer....

When you have applied the default effect or transition, have you saved your test project? It happens sometimes PD15 crashes when the project is saved after I have applied a Vitascene effect or transition, the shadow files option checked or not.....

To activate the shadow files options, you have to check the correct option in Preferences/General. See picture (sorry, in french...).

I'm sorry that I'm not going to be of much help.

1) If I start in read mode and select another transition type, I get a license message. I don;t have a license for PD 15.

2) Yes, I saved my test project and reopened it without a crash.

3) I realized that I did have shadow files turned on originally. I didn't see the green bars so I thought they were not. With that test clip apparently the shadow files were generated so quickly that I didn't notice.

Sorry, I'm not of much help.

By the way, my computer is similar to yours -- I have a little faster CPU and a little more storage.

Bhajje,

For what it's worth, mine appears stable for what I've tried. I've thrown multiple different effects, shadow files in use or not in use, save, save as, not save a project, multiple Fx on your supplied clip. No crash yet. Attached pic shows shadow files in use and some Fx applied.

Thank you, Stevek and Jeff.....

So, the pb is on my PC. What is courious is that I made the test on an other PC, and the crash of PD happened too.

I have to work to find what is the reason the problem. Jean-Paul

Hi Bhajje,
I did a quick report to CyberLink on your issue, after reading your thread, could you do the following please?
1. Send in to CyberLink the Crash report - adding your email address..
2. Send me a PM with the email address you gave with the crash report.
I'll pass the email onto CyberLink for them to track down the crash report and see if they can assist you.
Dafydd

Hi Dafydd,

Thanks to try to help me. The problem is that I have NO crash report...... As soon as I apply the vitascene effect on the video clip on the timeline, PD15 crashes saying "PD15 a cessé de fonctionner" (PD15 doesn't work now) (see picture, in french).

Perhaps a report file is ceated somewhere, but where, I Don't know....

In a precedent post I said I thought I had found that this happened when the shadow files were activated, but no, activated or not, the crash happens.

I don't think Cyberlink licensed Vitascene for Power Director 15 thr those who upgrade and have the live version. There is another post on this also (if you haven't seen it)
