Power Directer 15 verses Gear 360 Action Director

Have just upgraded Power Director from 14 to 15 and thought I would try out the new 360 option of PD15.

Took a couple of clips from my Samsung Gear 360 and brought the files straight off the camera into PD15. No sign of them sitching as in Action Director. Produced a video to Youtube and while it is in a sense 360 the stitching is so noticable.

Used the same two clips and produced via Action Director (which came bundled with the camera) and they went through the stitching process as Iam used to; then produced them from the app up to Youtube. The finished result was considerably better with no discernible stitch lines.

Two videos respectively can be viewed at

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpwFB4_ApHI this via PD15

and

Should I be stitching on my SamSung Galaxy S6 and move those files to PD15 for further processing.

Would welcome any feedback from the forum.

Hi Derek,

As a general rule, all 360 video shot with a 360 camera needs to be stitched before it can viewed/played. As far as I have seen, all 360 cameras come with stitching software. Your Gear 360 ActionDirector is an OEM software for Samsung, and provides this role of stitching the video when you import it.

PowerDirector 15 does not do the stitching. The video needs to be stitched before imported into PowerDirector. There is a note about this in the help file. The same thing applies for the retail version of ActionDirector that is out there for 360 editing.

So yes, stitch your video first in Gear 360 and then output. That video then can be edited in PowerDirector 15.
