Is WaveEditor the same as AudioDirector? Does it have a noise gate function?

Hi, I'm new to PowerDirector and am using it to edit videos. I want to do some editing to the audio as well.
I see that my bundled of PD14 includes a WaveEditor program, but I can't see what version it is. And I see that here we talk about AudioDirector.

Are they the same program?

I have used other Audio workstation software in the distant past, including Vegas, CoolEdit and Sonar.

I want to process the audio through a standard noise gate. Is there one in the WaveEditor?
or a plugin?

Thanks
Pat

Hello Pat,

Welcome to the AudioDirector forum laughing

Wave Editor & AudioDirector are two different pieces of software, though some of the editing functions are similar. Wave Editor is more basic. AudioDirector is more advanced.

AudioDirector has Noise Gate built into it, while Wave Editor has a simpler Noise Reduction facility. You'd need to try it to see whether it meets your needs.

Both programs can import VST plugins, such as these http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2012/01/17/bpb-freeware-studio-best-free-noise-gate-vstau-plugins/

I know this topic is getting dusty, but if your results were unsatisfactory you can try Levelator, a freebie. It raises quiet sounds and lowers louder sounds to even out the audio, hence the name. A link is on my site. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
