Hi,
I am trying to replicate an effect on a short video intro we have. I will attach it here and can attach my file so far if you're interested. It involves sliding a logo up from 'behind' a horizontal line and simultaneously sliding a tagline down from 'behind' that same line. I am using a couple of white boxes to hide things but can't figure out how to get them both to appear as if they slide out.

Hi mayerg11 -
This tutorial (made in PDR9 so the interface is very different) might give a few clues to how it might be done.
Your requirements are a little more complex because you have titles/graphics appearing from two directions. I haven't tinkered with it yet, but I think it will involve a number of layers.

Thanks Tony. Yeah, no matter how I stack it, i'm requiring at least 4 layers. 2 for titles/graphics, and 2 white overlays. Can't think of a way to stack it so it works properly. If I use the chroma key, then the white overlay becomes transparent to everything.
There's got to be a way, right? I'm drawing a blank at the moment.
That clip was interesting! What probably made it easier to create was the fact that(obviously from PD9 onwards) you can use any video track, including Track 1(master track) as a defacto title track. That's something I've put to good use in creating closing credit sequences, that's something I've been doing of late, using the regular title track plus a video PiP track as a defacto title track, but what was in your tutorial gives me an idea or two for later exploration.

Hi mayerg11 -
I've worked out how to do it, even though some might describe the process as "inelegant". I couldn't find any way to do this in a single project, without pre-producing so...
Separate projects were created for the top & bottom lines (logo & tag line). These used overlays to create the illusion that the words were appearing from behind the line. Each project was produced separately, then the two videos were overlaid with one masked.

Impressive. That's really good. I had hoped to handle in a single project but came to the same conclusion that it's impossible. I read about using multiple projects to increase the speed to more than 10x but figured you'd lose quality with the double encode.
This is just fantastic! I don't mind the multiple projects at all if it comes out looking this nice.

Glad it helped
The way to minimise any quality loss it to do any pre-production using the same format & profile as the final output.
Your intro.mp4 is 1920x1080 @ 6Mbps. I produced the two videos & the final output to 1920x1080 @ 10Mbps.
Quite often, I separately produce little sequences when there are many layers involved. e.g. in this sampler video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plzcqbNdVYs - the sequence from 0:30 to 0:42 was pre-produced (same profile as final output).
