It would be so incredibly awesome if someone could convince NewBluefx to make their Light Blends and Motion Blends Transitions available for PowerDirector.

I love them. I do. I really really really really really do.

I trust you all would too.

Good day,

Paul

Hello, Dogmonster(woof!)... sorry, just having a bit of fun with the pseudonym!

Light Blends and Motion Blends Transitions? Could be something for the "Suggestions For Power Director 15" thread, but as Power Director 15's release is iminent, perhaps Light Blends and Motion Blends Transitions could be included in Power Director 16.

Cheers!

Neil.

Hi Neil,

Paul F. 1956. cool

It's odd that NewBlue offers add-on packages for Pinnacle Studio but none for PowerDirector beyond those included in the Ultra & Ultimate versions.

I had a feeling PD15 was on the way soon.

Thank you,

Paul

Hi, Paul!

You're a year younger than me! There are a few features that Cyberlink should've had, and quite a few fixes they should've implemented in PD14 before starting in on developing PD15. The features you mentioned may well have really "made" PD14! Obvously you've experienced these features in other editing software(Corel Video Studio, perhaps?) so you know what these effects can do.

As for me, having splashed out over 140-odd Aussie dollars for PD14 Ultra last November, when PD15 arrives, I'd be "umm-ing" and "aah-ing" as to whether or not I'll buy it. And if I do, it'll want to be a retail package(installation disc[s] in presentation box). I don't favour downloads, the internet is far too insecure for my liking, but that's just me, I won't take an unnecessary risk when it comes to video or audio editing software.

Cheers!

Neil.

Hi Paul -

Agreed - there are some very neat (37 in total) transitions in that package - https://www.newbluefx.com/products/transitions

Some of them are very similar to transitions included with PDR14, and others could be replicated by applying effects to the ends/starts of clips and inserting a standard PDR transition.

I guess software developers (CL) have to make choices about what third party plug-ins are included. In the same way, companies like NewBlue, have to make business decisions about what NLEs they'll support.

As it is (depending on which version of PDR you're using), there are already ~155 standard transitions in PDR + its own transition designer. On top of that ~330 ProDAD Adorage transitions (depending on version) and ~90 transitions in ProDAD Vitascene, which also has its own transition designer. In round terms, that's 500-600 transitions without making your own. surprised

Just saying...

Cheers - Tony

Neil,

You're correct I have seen them in other packages. I could definitely spend more time in Vitascene tweaking the presets on their transitions. I had one in my project that was very close to the light blend I was trying to emulate but there was a ripple effect on the end I didn't care for and with editing time limited by how long I can remain at a keyboard & mouse I went in another direction.

The time I've spent typing about it here could easily have been enough time to work it out.

As far as PD 15 goes I really can't envision what they'll must-have features are left to add. Though I really don't run into any performance issues with PowerDirector like I do with say a Cyberlink competitors product there probably are lots of issues particularly that the contributors and moderators would like to see fixed before any upgrades are released.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for chiming in.

Your reply really hit home and I only fully came to realize that in the past hour or so.

I bought Photoshop many moons ago and still use it for all of image editing video related or print. The latter gets more latter and latter and latter. Who prints stuff anymore?

I've received two free versions of PhotoDirector from Cyberlink over the years and played around with the latest bells of each as it were but never made a change. I use Audacity for aural edits & oral recitations, etc.

Who wouldn't love to have Adobe CS whatever though I honestly probably, definitely couldn't handle the curve at this point. Or the hefty fees.

I watched the PowerSuite demo video earlier and wonder why I haven't explored it before.

I'd like to talk to customer service about the various purchase & subscription offers.

The under one roof editing model is what we've craved since the Arrival of the Amiga 1000 and Deluxe Everything by Dan so many many moons ago.

Anyone for a quick round of Genlock? It's a Milton Bradley® game.

With a new version of PowerDirector arriving I want to see how they'll handle upgrading.

Either way, The Suite demo hooked me when they jumped to PhotoDirector. No freaking fuss muss or any of that malarky.

This isn't the first time you've helped me in a pinch. Do know it's very much valued and appreciated every time.

Thank you,

Paul
