Subtitle fading

Is there a way to make the subtitles less 'jerky' or just to make them fade in or out more smoothly ? They jump in and disappear rather suddenly. It's like using slides with no transitions, fade in and fade out makes everything look more professional. Can it be done with subtitles?

Hi Brian -

If you're working in the Subtitles module, that can't be done. There are no text transitions or fades. Subtitles aren't intended for "artistic effect" - just a practical device.

You'd be able to do what you want using Titles, rather than subtitles.

Cheers - Tony

Thank you ynotfish for your swift reply. It is useful in certain circumstances to be able to produce an .srt file for subtitle switching off/on in media players. I may be wrong but when in the standard 'title' room that facility isn't available? In other words when you add 'titles' in the title room to a video, slide show etc., although a fade option is available, once the project is rendered and produced there is no 'off' option. The 'titles' are permanently burned onto the end product and cannot be switched off. A simple single 'fade' in/out of subtitles in the subtitle room would make the finished product look more professional. Thanks again.

Brian
