Howto Text editing with background?

Hi,

For some reason the background no longer shows when editing text.

I remember I could select show only current level or something when I wanted to switch to seeing the current level only, but I can't find that in PD14.

I've gone through the FAQ and the help menu and can't find anything that would help me.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Can you provide a screen shot so we could see what you are talking about?

Are you in the Title Room... creating a 'Title Page' ... or.. some text when you say you do not see your background?

Hi AndySA -

You may be thinking of when you import an image into Title Designer, so it becomes part of the title.

In that case you can enable/disable tracks & re-order them, as you would in the main timelines.

If your map is in the main timeline, I'm not aware of any way to "turn it off" while you edit your title.

Cheers - Tony

The background timeline video no longer showing in "Title Designer" can be a side effect of having Hardware Decoding active on some platforms, you might try pref > Hardware Acceleration and make sure the decode button is not selected.

Are you sure you INSERTED a background image IN TO the Title Designer to actually have one there?

I notice in the second attachment that the 'delete background' is NOT lit up or selectable. This makes me think you do not have a background inserted - and the main timeline clip or image is showing through when you view in the main editing room.

So make sure you inserted one and save it before exiting.

No, it's the normal timeline which is invisible for some reason.

No, that is not the problem. It is the background of the video itself not showing when editing text.

I can't move the text where I want it to be to not interfere with the background video running in the timeline. Maybe that explains it better.

Oh rats,

I just went to that very video and the problem has disappeared. I can't reproduce it.

Maybe, even though I have 12GB RAM, the memory was somehow clogged up or something else happened.
Or, because I now switched Hardware Acceleration off and then on again, this has affected something.

Odd.

But thanks for the help offered.

Andy - so just to be clear.... when I asked if are you certain that a background has been inserted into your Title page - you are saying... YES ... you ARE certain.. or NO you are NOT certain that a background has been inserted INTO YOUR TITLE... page?

Your jpg... 'Sample Map' jpg shows something behind the 'sample text'. Your screen shot is not large enough of an area to be able to see if you are in the main editing room or in Title Designer for that picture. Maybe you could make a more encompassing (larger are of screen seen) screen shot and post that?

In the 'Sample 1' screen shot - it clearly shows you are in Title Designer AND ... you have NOT added/imported anything into the background of that title page. The 'insert background' icon looks like it is selectable so - this is why I think you have NOT inserted a background there.

Maybe you are thinking that the 'background' is what you see behind the 'sample text' in 'Sample Map' screen shot - and MAYBE your Title page only has 'sample text' saved in it and that title page is on a track below that track where tha 'map' is?! This would allow whatever is in a track above it to show through.

Show us a bigger screen shot of that 'Sample map 1' image please or let us know if you have figured this out.
