If anyone has the skills, I'd love to get my mitts on a 1440 profile accessable through the Youtube uploader in PD. I never had much luck getting profiles to show up in the PD UI.

It's got to be 1440 x 1080 30P and overall bitrate of 14,500. Attached is the Mp4 profile I have been using.

You no doubt know that you can create a custom profile in the Produce section of PD - but not the Disc Creation section. But I am guessing this is NOT what you are talking about?

I'm trying to understand why we are not given the ability to create a custom profile in the Disc Creation section. What fundamental bit of information am I not realizing?

I don't have hdv but it seem that YT must have a way for you to specify that it is 16:9 with non square pixels. I have notice that my Fuji cameras have YT uploaders in their software although they are really 16:9. Check your Canon software for such an uploader. Maybe they didn't exist for YT since it is so old.

Its not just the HDV, my M series will also shoot 1440 when the capture rates are lowered. The problem is getting theprofile named properly so it shows up in the PD Youtube uploader. This way I can just click UPLOAD and walk away, rather than render, then wait till it is done, then upload the file via YT. This is helpful for long projects or when Im in a rush. Hi Barry,
I've edited a default FullHD 1920x1080 YT upload profile and altered it to a 1440x1080 frame size, Video 14.5mbps Audio 192kbps. It worked OK for me but might not be what you're after.

I have tried to get it to be 16:9 but it keeps going back to 4:3, I'm just amending the file data, I'm not using the dedicated program... junked it years ago.
Looks to me I cant carry out what you want - sorry Barry.

Hi Barry & Dafydd -

I've had the same problem when trying to make anamorphic HD profiles using WMV. Whatever I do, PDR keeps spewing out 4:3 videos. I don't have the same problem with MP4 or M2TS.

Barry - my conclusion is that that (if you want to use the YT uploader) it would be best to use either a 1920x1080 or 1280x720 profile.

As a side note - for years I've read and believed and thought I knew that YouTube had no respect for videos with non-square pixel aspect ratio and was unable to interpret them correctly. BUT I've just uploaded a 1440X1080 clip straight off my old Canon HFS10 and YouTube reads it as 16:9... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R57xIOjKOOQ Next they'll tell me that SmartSound doesn't require QuickTime! MediaInfo report attached.

Cheers - Tony

Barry -

When you get back to the lab, have a check under the regular WMV profiles (not YouTube) and see if you have one called "Windows Media Video 9 1440x1080/30p (8 Mbps)".

That profile, for me, using 1440x1080 source material, gives me a distorted 4:3 video - even though PDR displays the original correctly.

Cheers - Tony

I have profile for 1440 on my site asset page. It neds to be altered and I was never very good with those. CL should have a much larger selection, that would be a good thing. If a few profiles for Youtube get created I would certainly put them on my site. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

I have notice that Tony’s avchd file (00256.MTS.txt) show that the Display aspect ratio is 16:9 and it is TFF interlaced where Dafydd’s wmv is Display aspect ratio : 4:3 and not interlaced. Maybe then interlaced is necessary for 1440x1080 to display in 16:9 which is what Tony has using m2ts.

Just an observation from looking at the mediainfo.

The media info I submitted was from an mp4, I wanted to use it as a guide. Youtube has keywords that can format/force the DAR to widescreen, maybe that is what I need to do after upload...another step. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Jolly good observation tomasc!

When I open that 1440x1080 WMV profile in C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector14\Language\Enu\Profiles it has an error saying it (WMV) doesn't support interlaced processing. Screenshots attached.

Makes me wonder whether the profile is one I botched up previously or was supplied with PDR???

Cheers - Tony
