I am having trouble with Wave Editor. When I save an edited mp3 file, it is truncated for no apparent reason. See attached screen shots.#1 - the original sound clip is 21.104 long & I selected the first 20.852.#2 - track is cropped - total time & selected time both show 20.852 - which is what I want. I Save Track As .. & get #3 The track length is now 18.285 with the last 2+ seconds truncated. This happens whenever I save. The length of truncation varies but it always truncates something.

G'day PointyHairedBoss -

It's easy enough to replicate your observation, & it's been reported in these forums for years. It appears to be MP3 related.

I just took an audio clip - 3:11:477 in duration - and trimmed it down to 1:27:996. I did this twice in Wave Editor - once with a WAV file & then with the MP3 version.

The MP3 was truncated, as you say. In this case only by a minute amount - it came out at 1:27:526

Cheers - Tony

P.S. ADR does a similar thing with MP3s, but even more minutely. 1:27:996 became 1:27:980, while the WAV came out at 1:27:996

Thanks for your quick response. I don't have to use MP3, I'll use wav files instead when I need precise clipping.

I also just downloaded Audacity which doesn't have a the same mp3 problem. It looks like it has tons of features but has a bit of a learning curve. I'm going to give it a try. Windows 7, HP Omen Pro 15, Power Director 16, Photo Director 9
