Gotomeeting video edit producing large files

I have to edit a Gotomeeting recording that is basically screen capture and uses 136Kbps and 5 fps with 1920x1080 resolution. I'd like to produce an mp4 but the lowest it can go is 3000Kbps and 26fps so the files wind up being about 10x larger.

I tried modifying the profile.ini to match the gotomeeting specs as reported by mediainfo but the results were very blurry.

Is there a way to get decent results of very simple screen capture video using smaller bit rate and frame rate?

Thanks in advance.

Greg

Hi mayerg11,
The Gotomeeting video bitrate looks dire. Any chance you can upload a short clip for members to test out/analyze please?

Hi Dafydd,

Sure thing. The entire video was basically screen sharing of some software he was demoing so most of it didn't change a whole lot, just the things he was clicking. I'm trying to remove about 20 minutes of it.

<video controls="controls" width="300" height="150">
<source src="C:\GoToMeetingExample.mp4" type="video/mp4" />
</video>

Thank you

I had a quick play and altered the audio without testing. You might like to adjust the video bitrate some more and see what you come up with.

I adjusted the video bitrate to 300kbps which is really low. as the original is only 5fps and pretty static you might be ok. I couldn't get SVRT to accept it as a) it wasn't close to the original b) Intelligent SVRT didn't want to create a custom profile.

Copy and paste the text into the Profile.ini. Keep on experimenting. The current setting for video bitrate is 30000 = 300kbps.

Here is a sample of what it looks like after changes. It's good that we're down to about 3x the size. I tried changing deblock from 0 to 1. Maybe i'll try changing the samples per frame to a higher value.

Any idea why every 5-6 seconds it blurs out everthing and sort of refocuses?

Hi,

I have attached a sample video. The only difference to the profile I provided and the one used to create the attached video is the audio was set to 128 ( can be changed using a text editor).

I did not have any of the blurring your sample has, please check out the attached mp4.

I did NOT select Hardware video encoder and used the cpu processing capability to render the video. Do you have something running in the background during the rendering process? I think it also could be related to computer spec/set up. Just guessing.

Dafydd

We've gotten it working within acceptable ranges.

Blur - I tried launching cyberlink > right click > run with high performance nvidia and the blurs went away. Now, however, I am unable to bring them back...Whether I enable/disable hardware encoding, use nvidia reg/high perf...very strange. Must have been something running on the machine at the time.

Thanks very much for the help, Dafydd!
