Audio/video sync problems; possibly due to corrupt shadow files
[Post New]
Hello. I own a copy of PowerDirector 14 Deluxe, and I'm the manager of a fledgling YouTube game commentary channel. Recently, I've been having some issues with the audio becoming out of sync with the video. This happens gradually the longer a single video file goes on in preview, and it only seems to happen with game footage files. The program will actually export the video this way as well, making videos with games that need little to no clip trimming impossible to produce.

At first I thought it was Bandicam, the program we record with. We currently record at a 1920 x 1080 resolution at 60 frames per second, later adding in a webcam video that records around 30 frames per second. The reason I believe it may have to do with shadow files not generating is because when I first started using PowerDirector, the shadow files generated fine, and that's when I didn't have any audio/video sync problems. We actually recorded at a lower resolution then, 1280 x 720, but I don't see how a video editing software that can handle 4K footage would suddenly stop working correctly once I bumped up the resolution slightly. Once we made the switch over to 1080p, I started getting a message every time I imported a video file or re-opened my current project, saying that the shadow file was corrupt. It said to delete it manually in General Preferences and try again, but when I went into the General Preferences, there was no shadow file to delete.

I have had to reinstall my OS once since I started using PowerDirector, but I made sure to properly re-install the software as well. The software is up to date. Please provide any possible solutions we can. We record again on the 21st, and I rather not have our editing software dictate what games we play.

If it helps at all, here are my specs:

Motherboard: ASUS Z97-A ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5 GHz

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2x8) DDR3 1600

GPU: MSI Radeon R9 380 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ok, just throwing a couple of things your way. i5 is on the low end to video edit HD video. You can get away with no shadow files so long as you don't become silly with the additions you add to your video track.
Frame rate of capture using Bandicam - yeah, but what about the bitrate you've selected? If you're way too high and are using the avi container, the video is going to be massive and a mammoth file for you to process - audio/video synch issues.
Mix matching frame sized video can be difficult for the processor/gpu to handle on the fly - you need to alter your approach, even produce the lower frame size to up it to match the higher or other way around.
The software can handle 4K IF your computer can. Members have come up with a suitable fast 4K editing method of their own - check out the forum headers.
1. Shadow files must be fully created before any editing is started.
2. Preview in non-real time - might help with video but audio is not active.

The preview audio video sync issue to me is related to the files bitrate and your computer is struggling to process the data in real time. Your only option might be to go the shadow file route - not one I'd want to go - much lower res video to edit with.

Just a guess and an opinion.

I'm going to try this because I have been having the exact same issue. Just with a better computer (In terms of the prossesor)
