I seem to continue to have problems with PD 14 .I even upgraded my PC with more Ram, cleared files, found now viruses ormalware but nothing has really improved but seems to be getting worse even in low preview resolution with just 2 video tracks it starting to crash. The last time it crashed i checked the task master the the CPU/memory usage was low..im very close to getting rid of this programme and trying another one soon if this headache continues .Im still open to advice to what the problem could be ..Thanks

Try doing your same project using the free download Microsoft Live Essentials Moviemaker & see whether that crashes the same way. Then it would be youir machine rather than PD.

If you provide the specs on your editing computer, it would help. Regards,

My problem was the Game Experience module.
If you're using the Gaming Experience module try shutting that down

Open the Windows Control Panel...

Select Programs and Features...

Scroll down to the NVIDIA entries...

Select the one that has Experience in the name...

Click the Uninstall button towards the top. CyberPowerPC | Win7HP-64 | AMD FX-8320 3.5 Ghz | 8GB Mem | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB | WEI 5.9

I'm reviewing your diag file... nothing standing out at me...

I'd like to know how many processes you have running...
CTRL+ALT+DEL...
Start Task Manager...
Processes tab...
Lower-left corner... Processes: ??

Hopefully you don't have more than 75.

At this point I'm thinking there are too many "extra" things running.

There's your problem.
You said your not computer savvy. I can't give you step-by-step instructions but...

msconfig.exe is your new best friend. In your Start button search bar type in msconfig.exe.

It's been a while and I have to grab my laptop (win8 ) to verify but I think In Win 8, they changed the "startup" tab (it will direct you to something else).
With the Processes and Startup tabs, you can select or deselect processes you don't want running. On the Services tab, Check the box for Hide all Microsoft services.

My first suggestion is deselect all toolbars and updaters.

If anyone else has ideas, feel free to chime in.

Hi jcardana,

I managed to shut down a few processes that i could work out that were using up the cpu for nothing but the many others i cant tell what are in use for...

Even while i write this with no programmes i use usually i see 73 processes in use.

So im trying to work out slowly by here and there where i find info which ones to switch off so they dont effect the computer functioning..PD14 is still dragging because of it but so far has not crashed like it was doing every few mins when i had the game experience on.So the problem is definitely these processes which i need to bring down in the number .So thats where im at right now

I highly recommend Process Explorer
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/processexplorer

It's a glorified Task Manager. If you run it with Admin rights (Run as Admin) it will let you sort by "Company Name".
Anything that doesn't have a "Company Name" (unless you specifically know it should be there) should not be running. I have a process called Core Temp with no "Company Name" but I know it's ok because I installed it and it let's me see my computer temps.

Anything related to Windows, "Microsoft Corporation" LEAVE ALONE!
You will see a few or a lot of svchost.exe, those are the Host process for other dll files. If you hover your cursor over one, it will display what processes it's running.

Anything related to your computer maker (ACER, Toshiba etc) is ok to experiment with.

Anything that is a toolbar or updater, turn off.

Any thing else? Just ask.
