PD13 & 14 on Win10 x64: constant hanging, crashing, every other minute

Hi all,

I bought PD13 late last year to produce some videos for xmas, and in short, it's been almost impossible with all the hangs.

Submitted hundreds of crash reports for the various observations about patterns that make it crash... zooming in/out on the timeline, saving, even sometimes just clicking on the movie library ends up in the "application closing unexpectedly".

I also installed PD14 trial at some point to see if it's an incompatibility, but same result there. I have to say that my configuration has been running stable with all my other applications for several years so I am sure that all hardware aspects should be ruled out really. Unless it might be some driver issue I cannot debug myself.

So Cyberlink, with all the reports I provided using this same email address, can you point me into a direction to solve this riddle and get productive?

Or is there anyone with similar issues? I can't believe I am the only one.

Thanks in advance

Davy

PS: I validated Win10 compatibility advisor, ran as admin, tried compatibility settings and safe mode. Nothing helped.

I have 13 and it crashes over and over many times while trying to make one video. I thought about getting 14, but why should I trust 14 when 13 isn't even stable?

many users have issues with nVidia GeForce Experience's ShadowPlay.

so, uninstall ShadowPlay or GeForce Experience.

try different GPU driver version or roll back to one that worked.

if not, then post Part B -> http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/45453.page

Uninstall Geforce experience or shadowplay and roll back to a previous gpu driver version? That is the dumbest answer that can be given and it amazes me when people or companies still to this day will tell people to uninstall another program or roll back a driver just to make their program work... No, how about you just fix your broken program to work with other things instead of telling me to change stuff on my system to make your program work... Why not also tell me to uninstall windows 10 and put windows 7 or 8 back on also?

So you want me to roll back gpu drivers to make your program work, but screw all the games that it will break in the process and make it where I can't play the newer titles, but hey, at least your program works. Or do you actually want be to keep going back and forth between drivers? Or, "hey uninstall these programs that you use on a daily basis, just so you can use our program instead". See how dumb that is? How about you patch your program to not be broken.

So with PD14, should I expect to remove all my games and use windows xp to make it work? Since you want me to do changes just to run 13, would hate to see what 14 wants me to do...

You ask for an answer. You were given an answer. It is up to you whether or not you wish to try it. PD works for thousands of users, so is PD broken or is your gpu driver? Compatibility issues occur. It is a fact of life.

You should start your own thread because your issue may be completely different than the original poster.

As PepsiMan says we're just ordinary users trying to help each other out. We're not Cyberlink Support. Over the years there have been numerous problems caused by video drivers. NVidia appear to be particularly problematical as they are constantly releasing changes aimed at gamers that cause issues with Power Director. Cyberlink, as a third-party software supplier, is therefore constantly engaged in a game of catch-up.

It's been the same with Windows 10. As users upgraded to that a fresh set of problems arose that have needed to be worked through. You can't blame providers like Cyberlink if others move the goalposts.

If you want to get your set-up working you should either contact Cyberlink Support or accept the advice freely given on this forum. Regards,
Mike
