Setting sound volume

After a number of years of using Power Director, I've decided to get more ambitious and to add sound to my videos. Thanks to help from Neil and Carl, I've got to first base. Now, my problem is that I can find no way to control the volume of the added sound file. I don't want the sound to be so loud that it intrudes on any dialog in the video. Again, it is probably so obvious that I cannot see the solution.

Try this: Click on the added sound file to highlight it. Go to the Audio Mixing room, or hit F9 on the keyboard. You should see a slider set at 0.0. Move it down to lower the volume on the db scale.

Let us know if this helps.

tomasc, Thank you for your prompt reply, the excellent and helpful advice and for introducing me to a part of PD14 I had not previously explored. I can now control the level of added music as I would want to. After a number of years of producing DVDs, I am now getting more adventurous and am entering the field of added music. The next phase will be, where appropriate, voice over instead of subtitles.
In gratitude, Samuel MacKenzie
