Hello there,

As the subject states, I just purchased and installed PowerDVD 16 ultra under Windows 7. When I click the icon to run the program, nothing happens.

The only .exe in the install folder that does anything is the activate.exe and it tells me I have 0 days left in my trial and I can buy now!

I did buy it already, and I haven't even been able to get to the point where I can put in my serial number. Hahaha.

I have also tried running it as administrator- nothing. This is also a fresh install of Windows 7. I checked Windows Firewall and it says Cyberlink is allowed.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Hello Ashura,
When you double click on the Icon, did you see what happens on the tast Manager? is PDVD listed there or not?

Try to stat PDVD as an Administator.

Hi there.

I did try running it as administrator. No dice.

As for task manager, what happens is it pops up for a split second, and then goes away by itself. It's not like there's multiple copies stuck running in the background or anything. Just there for a sec and poof, gone.

Hi Ashura,

I suggest you to read the system requirements carefully. http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdvd-ultra/spec_en_US.html

It sounds like PowerDVD is stopped from annother prozess. Do you have an anti-virus software?

Best regards

I meet or greatly exceed all the specifications listed here. I read this before I bought the program.

I do have Windows Security Essentials. Is there something I have to do to make them both work okay together? I tried disabling security essentials and that didn't help.

Hi Ashura,

It sounds very strainge ant it can have many causes.
Please try one of this solutions:

  1. Update your Software from our HP. http://www.cyberlink.com/support/powerdvd-ultra/patches_en_US.html

  2. Delete the cache file under user's appdata: C:\Users\(USER_NAME)\AppData\Local\CyberLink\PowerDVD15\cache

  3. Reinstall PDVD without keeping user settings

Please let me know what happens.
Greetings
Hicham
